Desktop Workflow

Cropbox is built around a straightforward editing loop:

1. Open a media file.
2. Set trim in and trim out on the timeline.
3. Adjust the crop rectangle in the preview.
4. Apply optional resize, rotation, or flip transforms.
5. Export to the target format.

The Info panel exposes editable values for playback position, trim points, timeline viewport, crop geometry, and source metadata.

Controls

• Space: play or pause
• Ctrl+I: toggle the Info panel
• Left and Right: step one frame
• Shift+Left and Shift+Right: nudge the selected trim handle by one frame
• Ctrl+Left and Ctrl+Right: nudge the selected timeline viewport handle by one frame
• Ctrl+Shift+D: open Resize
• Ctrl+Shift+L and Ctrl+Shift+R: rotate left or right 90 degrees
• Ctrl+Shift+U: rotate 180 degrees
• Ctrl+Shift+H and Ctrl+Shift+V: toggle horizontal or vertical flip
• Ctrl+Shift+0: reset transforms

Menus

• File: open media, export, or quit
• Edit: set trim, reset trim, reset timeline, create crop, reset crop, change playback speed, and toggle loop playback
• Transform: resize, rotate, flip, or reset transforms
• View: toggle the Info panel and annotations
• Help: open FFmpeg install guidance and About

Notes And Behavior

• Playback speed affects both preview and export for timed media.
• Still images disable playback and trim controls, but remain crop- and export-capable.
• Headless export defaults to the full media duration when --trim-out is omitted.
• PNG sequence export starts frame numbering at 1.
• Crop rectangles must stay within the source media dimensions.
• View -> Show Frame Values switches time displays to frame-based displays.
